No Surprises Act
Effective January 1, 2022, the No Surprises Act aims to shield you from surprise out-of-network charges that can occur when you receive emergency care or services from out-of-network providers without your prior knowledge. This law ensures that you only pay in-network rates for emergency services and for certain non-emergency care when you’re inadvertently treated by out-of-network professionals.
What This Means for You:
Clear Communication: We'll provide detailed information about your costs upfront, so there are no surprises about your financial responsibilities.
Good Faith Estimates: Before your initial therapy session, we will give you a Good Faith Estimate of the expected costs. This estimate will outline the anticipated charges based on your planned treatment, so you have a clear understanding of your financial commitment.
Fair Billing: We adhere to the law’s regulations, ensuring that your out-of-pocket costs are transparent and reasonable.
Disputing Unexpected Charges: If you receive a bill that exceeds the Good Faith Estimate by $400 or more, you have the right to dispute it. The No Surprises Act provides a mechanism for addressing such discrepancies. Here’s what you should do:
Review the Bill: Compare the final bill to your Good Faith Estimate to ensure the charges align.
Contact Us: Reach out to discuss the discrepancy to resolve any issues quickly and fairly.
Formal Dispute: If we’re unable to resolve the issue to your satisfaction, you have the option to file a formal dispute through your insurance company or a third-party mediator.
